USA: 4-8

This card was sent for the A Bit of History tag from RJLC16 and shows Fort Ross in California. It was built in 1812. This card specifically shows the Holy Trinity Chapel and the other buildings in the Fort are; Kuskov House, Rotchev House, Official's Quarter and two Block Houses. The chapel collapsed in the 1906 San Fancisco earthquake and was rebuilt in the original style. The stamp shows the Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming and was released on the 28th June 2009.


 This card is US-758094, the printed text on the card says the following: Plaza Hotel, Fifth Avenue and Central Park South (59th Street), This magnificent landmark was designed by architect Henry J. Hardenburgh in the elegant French Renaissance style. It rises 18 stories on a cast-iron infrastructure clad in marble and white brick, and has a five-story mansard slate froof. Two corners are rounded to form towers overlooking Central Park. N.Y.C. Landmark December 9, 1969.

The building was built in 1907 and the stamp is the same as above.


This stamp from the History Box RR, Group #66 from alcott1 and shows a 55-foot replica of the keelboat the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery used to explore the route to the Pacific Ocean. The stamp is the same as above.



This card is US-878592 and shows the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego. In the 1860s this area was known as New Town. The stamp is the same as above.




This card is US-844002 and shows a sunset in Iowa, the stamp is the same as above.

USA: 1-3

This card was a private trade with Choke and shows some of the 149 lighthouses in Michigan. The stamp shows the Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming and was released on the 28th June 2009.

Cheboygan Crib Light: This is called a light instead of a lighthouse because it was never occupied by a keeper. It was built in 1884 on the lake Huron.
New Presque Isle Light: This was built in 1870 and replaced the Old Presque Isle Light which is also shown on this card.
Fort Gratiot Light: This was the very first lighthouse that was built in Michgan, in 1829.
Old Presque Isle Light: This was built in 1840 and is now a museum.
Sturgeon Point Light: This was built in 1869.
Tawas Point Light: This was built in 1875.


This card is US-640760 and shows a map of Kansas; it shows that the State Bird is a Western Meadowlark, the State Tree is Cottonwood and the State Flower is the Native Sunflower. Kansas is known officially as The Sunflower State but also as The Wheat State. The stamp is the same as above.



This card is US-622229 and shows an old aerial view of the athletic facilities in Auburn University, Alabama but apparently a lot of the parking shown has new buildings on it. The University was established in 1856 and originally it was called the East Alabama Male College and the first building was destroyed by a fire in 1887. It gained university status in 1960 and changed to its current name. Currently it has over 25,000 students. A famous alunmi is Toni Tennille from the band The Captain and Tennille. The stamp is the same as above.

Germany: 20-24

This card is DE-482256 and the stamp shows a Sonnenhüte (Coneflower) and was released on the 2nd March 2006.




This card is DE-793276 and is a cut out pair of glasses which look quite similar to my actual ones! The stamp is the same as above.




This card is DE-736303 shows a view of the Dresden Frauenkirch, you can see more postcards and information of this church at this previous post here. The stamp is the same as above.




This card is DE-802031 and I'm not sure what it is, if anyone can help me work it out that would be brilliant! The stamp shows a Ballonblume and was released on the 3rd January 2011.




I'm unsure what card came in this envelope as they have got seperated but this stamp shows the Old Rhine bridge bath Säckingen-Stein/eagle's region and was released on the 4th September 2008.

Germany: 17-19

This card is DE-634457 and shows the RWE-Tower which was built in 1996 and is the world's first ecological building, the stamp shows a Sonnenhüte (Coneflower) and was released on the 2nd March 2006.




This pretty card is DE-647321 and shows some flowers, the stamp is the same as above.




This card is DE-471573 and shows the Neues Palais (New Palace) in Potsdam, which was built between 1763 and 1769 and became a musuem between the two World Wars. The stamp is the same as above.


Germany: 15-16

This postcard is DE-731819, the first stamp shows a Tagetes (Marigold) flower and was released on the 7th July 2005 and the second stamp is from the Half-Timbered Buildings issue, shows an Upper Half-Timbered Building, built in 1582 in Eppingen and was released on the 7th October 2010.



This card is DE-666929 and shows a pretty window. The first stamp is the same as above and the second stamp is from the lighthouses issue, shows Leuchtturm Neuwerk and was released on the 10th June 2010. This lighthouse was built between 1367 and 1369 after the original, built in 1299, was destroyed by fire and is Hamburg's oldest exisiting building.



Germany 13-14

This card is DE-815117, it shows a movie poster from the 1967 film called Frankenstein Created Woman. The first two stamps show a Tulip and were released on the 8th September 2005 and the third stamp is from the Half-Timbered Buildings issue, shows a Low Half-Timbered Building, built in 1734 in Rundlingsdorf Dünsche and was released on the 7th October 2010.






This art card was sent for a tag or round robin (not sure which), the first stamp shows a Maiglöckchen (Lily of the Valley) flower and was released on the 6th May 2010 and the second stamp shows a Tagetes (Marigold) flower and was released on the 7th July 2005.

Germany: 11-12

This card is DE-543932 and shows a beautiful view of Hamburg harbour during anniversary celebrations. The first stamp shows a Tulip and was released on the 8th September 2005 and the second stamp shows board games and was released on the 11th February 2010.



This card is from the Germany - UK tag and was sent by Weidergirl, it shows Ralswiek castle in Rügen, which is Germany's largest island. The castle was built in 1893 and is now a hotel and restaurant.
The first stamp is the same as above and the second stamp was issued to celebrate 600 years of Leipzig University and was released on the 2nd July 2009.
