USA: 19-23

The following cards are from a tag and swap with linda718; this first card shows Coney Island Lifeguards in Brooklyn on September 14th 1922. Coney island is currently a peninsula. The Coney Island Hotel was built in 1829, with other hotels following and the first carousel was built in 1876. Between 1880 and WWII it was the US' largest amusment area.

This card shows Coney Island in 1902.

This card shows Coney Island in (circa) 1938, this is one of my favourite photographic reprints and it amazes me how many people can fit into such a small area of beach!

This card shows a photograph from circa 1900 and the pre-printed text reads: Apache Mother and Baby, San Carlos, Arizona. The Apache excelled in the making of large coiled storage baskets for holding grain. The dark colored designs on elaborately decorated baskets often identified the clan of the basket maker. Taller baskets were sometimes made for trade.

This card shows the Interior of the Grand Central Terminal in New York (completed in 1913 and opened in 1871)
The first stamp is from the American Design issue, shows an American Clock and was released on the 24th January 2003. The next two stamps are also from the American Design issue, show a Tiffany Lamp and were released on the 7th March 2008. The next stamp shows a Polar Bear and was released on the 16th April 2009. Then there is a stamp of a sunflower which was released on the 15th August 2008. The final stamp shows Wisdom and is a 2008 reprint of a stamp which was released on the 1st March 2003.
