USA: 9-14

This card was from a swap with stephaniewilson and is one of my collection of propaganda postcards. This postcard shows a Navy recruitment poster from 1942. The stamp shows the Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming and was released on the 28th June 2009.


This card was from a swap with ifthelensfits, the pre-printed text reads: I Want You for the U.S. Army. Enlist Now was produced by James Montgomery Flagg in 1940 for the Army Recruiting Bureau. Flagg used himself as a model for this illustration which was originally created for World War I recruitment posters and then revived during World War II. The stamp is the same as above.


This card is a retro advertisment card (my other collection) and is a colgate advert for soap from 1885. The stamp is the same as above.


This card is US-776494 and is from The Museum of Modern Art in New York. It shows a 1912 lithograph for the Zoological Gardens of Munich. The garden is known as Hellabrunn Zoo and opened in 1911. The stamp is the same as above.


This card was sent for the Nostalgia Tag from alcott1 and shows a 19th century trade card. The stamp is the same as above.


This card is US-950937 and shows Catalpa, near St. Francisville in Louisiana. St. Francisville was established in 1809 and the building is Catalpa Plantation which is still owned by the family who first owned it. During the Civil War the original house was burnt down. The current house was built in 1885. The stamp is the same as above.
